Country:

Clontarf (Cluain Tarbh, meaning "meadow of the bull" in Irish) is a picturesque coastal suburb situated on the Northside of Dublin, around 5 km from the city centre. Known for its seaside promenade, Georgian and Victorian architecture, and abundant green spaces, it is widely considered one of Dublin’s most desirable residential areas.

Clontarf Today

  • The Promenade & Dublin Bay: A wide 3 km coastal walkway and cycle track stretches along the bay, offering views across to the Poolbeg chimneys, Howth Head, and Dun Laoghaire.
  • Bull Island & Dollymount Strand: Just off the coast of Clontarf lies North Bull Island, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve connected by a historic wooden bridge. It features a nature reserve, championship golf courses, and Dollymount Strand.
  • St. Anne’s Park: Bordering Clontarf and Raheny, this sprawling 240-acre public park was originally the estate of the Guinness family (the brewing dynasty). It contains walled rose gardens, woodland trails, weekend food markets, and classical follies.
  • Architecture & Atmosphere: Clontarf blends red-brick Victorian and Edwardian housing with quiet leafy avenues, traditional pubs, and modern waterfront dining.
