In 1851 he was recorded as the owner of two houses, namely No.s 24 and 35 The Square, Listowel.
There is a plaque dedicated to him in St John's church, Listowel.
He was the land agent for Sir John Benn-Walsh for his Irish estates. (see PDF document below).
He was sometimes referred to as "The Terror of North Kerry".

He was interred in the Sandes of Greenville vault at the Aghavallen church. (a rumour exists that he was so hated that his body was taken from the vault and thrown into the Shannon River.)
